Barbara Atkinson, Founder

Barbara Atkinson has spent her career enduring barriers and forging ahead anyway. A divorced mother who began a career in the male-dominated enterprise information technology in 1986, she rose through ranks holding an array of technical leadership positions that spanned industries and sectors, optimizing operations by optimizing both business processes and human capital.

In May, 2024, cascading health issues led to a life threatening health emergency. American medicine had few options and no solutions. Undertaking fixing her health by becoming an expert on her own health seemed the only possible solution.

She leveraged decades of research and analytics experience to identify root causes and remediation options. A well defined cost-risk-benefit model guided the self-prescribing that remediated issues, one by one, reclaiming more health than she thought possible.

This success fueled the Her Health Science initiative, a mission to remediate women’s health inequity by facilitating health literacy and access to information so that other women become experts on their health, make better healthcare decisions, and live longer, healthier lives.
