Peptides and Biohacking: A Woman’s Guide to Longevity and Health
Key Takeaways
In this video, Dr. Ashley Froese, a board-certified primary care physician, discusses the transformative potential of peptides in today’s medicine, framing them as specific “text messages” between cells that signal the body to repair and optimize itself. Unlike traditional medications that often act as temporary “band-aids” by overriding biological processes, peptides are short chains of amino acids that fit into cellular receptors like keys into locks to restore metabolic rhythms, boost mitochondrial energy, and accelerate tissue repair.
Dr. Froese provides a comprehensive overview of various peptide categories, ranging from weight loss and muscle growth to cognitive enhancement and cellular longevity, emphasizing that these compounds represent a shift toward medicine that focuses on fixing the body’s internal software and communication pathways rather than just muting symptoms.
Metabolic Health and Weight Loss Peptides
- Popular peptides like semaglutide and tirzepatide mimic natural gut hormones to restore metabolic rhythms and reduce insulin resistance, which is often the root cause of obesity.
- Peptides such as cagrilintide and retatrutide communicate directly with the brain and pancreas to manage appetite and insulin signaling more effectively than traditional pills.
- The non-peptide molecule 5-amino-1MQ is mentioned for its ability to increase NAD levels and insulin sensitivity by blocking enzymes that slow down metabolism.
- These treatments are described as a “total system reboot” that rewrites the biological software managing hunger and energy storage.
- Mitochondria act as the batteries of the cells, and their decline with age leads to chronic fatigue, poor sleep, and difficulty losing weight.
- The peptide MOTS-c signals the body to create more mitochondria and burn fatty acids more efficiently.
- SS-31 is used to stabilize existing mitochondria and has been researched for its benefits in heart failure, kidney disease, and specific mitochondrial disorders.
- Combining these peptides with lifestyle practices like fasting and cold exposure can further signal the body to create energy from the inside out.
Tissue Repair and Injury Recovery
- BPC-157 is a fragment of a peptide naturally found in the stomach that promotes blood flow and collagen rebuilding to accelerate the healing of gut linings and musculoskeletal injuries.
- TB-500 is recognized for its ability to help cells migrate and reorganize during the repair process following an injury.
- When used together, these two compounds act like a “construction crew” for the body, though much of the current evidence relies on animal studies and anecdotal human reports.
- These peptides are particularly popular in the athletic community for their potential to significantly shorten recovery times.
Growth Hormone and Body Composition
- Peptides such as CJC-1295, sermorelin, and tesamorelin are designed to boost the body’s natural production of growth hormone.
- Increasing growth hormone levels can lead to improved muscle strength, enhanced fat burning, and better sleep and skin quality.
- Tesamorelin is specifically FDA-approved for reducing visceral fat around organs, highlighting its potent fat-burning capabilities.
- Other peptides like Ipamorelin and GHRP-6 work through the ghrelin pathway to stimulate growth hormone without necessarily increasing hunger or cortisol levels.
Cognitive Enhancement and Brain Health
- Tesofensine is highlighted for its ability to reduce appetite while simultaneously boosting mood and mental energy by acting on neurotransmitter reuptake.
- Nootropic peptides like Dihexa and Selank are being researched for their potential to form new neural connections, improve focus, and reduce anxiety.
- Cerebrolysin is a blend of peptides studied for its role in helping neurons regrow and reconnect following strokes or in cases of dementia.
- These “neuro-peptides” represent a future where medicine helps repair the brain’s internal communication signaling rather than just masking cognitive decline.
Cosmetic Benefits and Cellular Longevity
- GHK-Cu is a copper-binding peptide used to stimulate collagen production and promote new hair follicle growth by delivering copper directly to cells.
- The peptide SNAP-8 acts as a topical alternative to Botox by relaxing facial muscle tension and softening expression lines.
- Epitalon supports cellular longevity by regulating circadian rhythms and potentially lengthening telomeres, which are markers of biological aging.
- Peptides like KPV and Thymosin Alpha-1 focus on “cellular housekeeping,” suppressing systemic inflammation and coordinating the immune system to keep it in repair mode.

Key Video Highlights
How do peptides differ from traditional medications?
[01:55] Rather than overriding your biology with synthetic chemicals, peptides act like “text messages” between cells. They provide short, specific, and powerful signals that teach the body to repair itself, sleep better, or quiet the “noise” of constant hunger. This signaling approach allows for a “total system reboot” rather than just masking a symptom with a pill.
What is the connection between GLP-1s and insulin resistance?
[01:44] Popular Weight Loss peptides like semaglutide and tirzepatide mimic gut hormones to restore metabolic rhythms. By talking directly to the brain and pancreas, they allow Insulin Resistance which is often the root of obesity and chronic disease to subside, effectively rewriting the metabolic software that manages appetite.
Can peptides actually improve cellular energy and “batteries”?
[03:08] As we age, our mitochondria (the batteries of our cells) tend to decline due to inflammation and oxidative stress. Specific peptides like MOTS-C and SS-31 help by either signaling the body to create more mitochondria or stabilizing the ones you already have. This is a critical component of increasing Biological Age efficiency and overcoming chronic fatigue.
Are there specific peptides for skin health and anti-aging?
[08:50] GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide found naturally in plasma that signals cells to rebuild and can even stimulate new hair follicle growth. Additionally, “Snap-8” acts as a topical alternative to Botox by relaxing facial muscle tension. These aren’t just cosmetic fixes; they are “cellular tune-ups” that use natural signaling pathways to improve skin and hair quality.
How do “longevity” peptides help with the aging process?
[09:38] Peptides like Epitalon support circadian rhythms and may even lengthen telomeres, acting as a direct anti-aging signal. Other compounds like FOXO4-DRI perform “cellular housekeeping” by clearing out old, damaged cells that should have died off but remain in the body causing dysfunction, helping women maintain a more youthful cellular profile.

# Doctor Reviews Peptides – Changing Medicine Forever
# https://www.youtube.com/watch/-AB_qREYFjE
00:00:00.000 I’m a board-certified primary care
00:00:01.760 doctor and I work directly for my
00:00:03.840 patients, which means that I have time
00:00:05.839 to focus on things like actually fixing
00:00:08.320 people versus putting band-aids on
00:00:09.840 things. Improving the way that your body
00:00:11.840 works is something that I’m really on
00:00:13.679 board with. And the more research I do
00:00:15.599 on peptides, the more amazing things I
00:00:18.160 see. Watch this video and you’ll see why
00:00:20.240 peptides aren’t just about muscle gain
00:00:22.240 and fat loss. They’re about repairing
00:00:24.320 the body at its core. And that’s what
00:00:26.160 makes them so powerful. That being said,
00:00:28.640 do not take anything I say on here as
00:00:30.480 medical advice. I’m just a doctor on
00:00:32.320 YouTube talking about research and
00:00:33.840 experimental things here only. I am not
00:00:35.840 your doctor. So, if you don’t already
00:00:37.600 know what peptides are, they are
00:00:39.200 literally chains of amino acids, the
00:00:41.520 same stuff that proteins are made out
00:00:43.040 of. And most of them are designed to fit
00:00:45.120 right into receptors in the body to
00:00:47.280 create some sort of message or signal.
00:00:49.360 Plain and simple, it’s like fitting a
00:00:51.120 key into a lock. They usually come as a
00:00:53.520 white powder like this. And most of the
00:00:56.160 time they’re reconstituted with
00:00:57.680 something like bacteriaatic water and
00:00:59.600 the water mixes with the powder like
00:01:01.120 this. Swirl it around, you’ve got
00:01:03.280 yourself an injectable peptide. Now
00:01:04.959 that’s not actually how it’s done in a
00:01:06.640 sterile environment, but now you know
00:01:08.159 what they look like. You can also think
00:01:09.600 of peptides like text messages between
00:01:11.840 cells. Short, specific, powerful
00:01:14.240 messages. You see, you don’t always need
00:01:15.920 to override your biology with
00:01:17.439 medications. Rather, sometimes you can
00:01:19.520 just send the right signals. signals
00:01:21.680 that teach the body to repair itself, to
00:01:24.320 sleep better, to get stronger or shut
00:01:26.720 down the noise that makes you hungry all
00:01:28.720 the time. And speaking of, there are
00:01:30.400 some peptides that do that. Let me start
00:01:32.000 by describing the most popular weight
00:01:33.840 loss peptides. Semaglutide, tzepide,
00:01:36.640 kagrillinide, and reatride. These
00:01:39.439 peptides basically mimic your own gut
00:01:41.280 hormones. GLP-1, GIP, glucagon, and
00:01:44.720 amalin. They basically talk directly to
00:01:46.880 the brain and the pancreas to restore
00:01:49.759 metabolic rhythms, basically allowing
00:01:51.680 for insulin resistance to die down. And
00:01:53.920 you may have heard me say this before,
00:01:55.520 but I think that insulin resistance is
00:01:58.000 the root of the majority of obesity and
00:02:00.240 disease. Fix insulin resistance, fix
00:02:02.640 obesity, fix a lot of the world’s health
00:02:04.960 problems. And beyond peptides, there are
00:02:07.040 other molecules being researched that
00:02:09.199 work deeper than insulin signaling. Take
00:02:11.440 five amino 1MQ for example which
00:02:13.840 increases NAD and insulin sensitivity by
00:02:17.040 blocking an enzyme that slows down
00:02:18.720 metabolism. I have another video on
00:02:20.640 non-peptides if you want to learn more
00:02:22.160 about that. I mean this is not just
00:02:24.000 appetite suppression with pills. This is
00:02:26.160 a total system reboot. You’re not just
00:02:28.480 muting down a symptom that causes
00:02:30.239 obesity and overeating with peptides.
00:02:32.640 You’re actually rewriting the software
00:02:34.239 that manages appetite and insulin
00:02:36.560 signaling. All right, I’m going to
00:02:37.760 switch gears on you and talk about my
00:02:39.360 favorite thing lately. Mitochondria, the
00:02:41.680 source of energy and endurance. I’m a
00:02:44.319 softy for this stuff because I like to
00:02:46.000 stay active. So energy and endurance are
00:02:47.920 a big deal to me. So your mitochondria,
00:02:49.760 they’re like the batteries in all of
00:02:51.440 your cells. They’re what produces
00:02:53.120 energy. And when they go bad, which they
00:02:55.200 tend to do with aging and inflammation,
00:02:57.760 oxidative stress, everything slows down
00:03:00.319 and you get things like chronic fatigue,
00:03:02.480 inability to sleep, inability to lose
00:03:04.560 weight, all of the above. Okay. But
00:03:06.400 there are two peptides that basically
00:03:08.480 boost your mitochondrial health. You can
00:03:10.319 either get your body to make more
00:03:12.159 mitochondria with MOT C or stabilize the
00:03:15.840 mitochondria that you already have with
00:03:18.000 SS31. SS-31 has been studied in heart
00:03:21.200 failure, kidney disease. It’s even FDA
00:03:23.599 approved for a mitochondrial disease
00:03:25.200 called Bar syndrome. Matsi is a
00:03:27.280 mitochondrial peptide that already
00:03:28.879 exists in our bodies that turns on the
00:03:31.120 signaling that allows you to make more
00:03:32.879 mitochondria and burn more fatty acids.
00:03:35.280 At least that’s what the research in
00:03:36.560 mice shows. These are amazing peptides.
00:03:39.120 And a non-peptide that has less research
00:03:41.680 behind it, but is very promising is SLU
00:03:45.280 PP332, which is basically being called
00:03:48.319 exercise in a bottle. And rightfully so.
00:03:50.799 I have a video comparing all three of
00:03:52.640 those. If you want to learn more, guys,
00:03:54.080 when you combine things like this with
00:03:55.599 things like fasting, cold exposure,
00:03:58.400 exercise, you’re basically signaling
00:04:00.480 your body to create more energy from the
00:04:03.200 inside out to be more efficient, to be
00:04:06.239 better. All right, let’s talk about the
00:04:08.000 peptides that get the most hype about
00:04:10.159 being peptides. Like, when a bro comes
00:04:12.159 to me and says, “Let’s talk about
00:04:13.599 peptides. What can you tell me?” They’re
00:04:15.439 mainly talking about these ones. When it
00:04:17.440 comes to recovery, tissue repair, injury
00:04:20.478 repair, nothing gets more hype than
00:04:22.560 BPC57
00:04:24.160 and TV500. BPC57, it’s a fragment of a
00:04:27.919 peptide that’s made in your stomach
00:04:29.680 naturally that’s thought to protect the
00:04:31.759 lining of the gut due to high cellular
00:04:34.080 turnover in the stomach and the gut. It
00:04:36.800 basically accelerates healing by
00:04:38.479 promoting angioenesis or blood flow and
00:04:41.680 collagen rebuilding. TB500 is found in
00:04:44.960 animal studies in tissues that are
00:04:47.360 trying to repair themselves. Basically,
00:04:49.199 it’s thought to help cells migrate and
00:04:51.759 reorganize after injury. And when you
00:04:53.680 combine them together, it’s like sending
00:04:55.280 a construction crew to an injury.
00:04:57.680 There’s lots of animal research on these
00:04:59.520 two compounds, not a lot of human data,
00:05:01.600 but there are a lot of human stories out
00:05:04.000 there claiming that these compounds have
00:05:06.240 been pretty life-changing. Moving on to
00:05:08.479 body composition. Okay, in the body
00:05:10.320 composition space, these are also very
00:05:12.400 popular peptides that mainly bros in the
00:05:14.639 weightlifting world want to talk about
00:05:16.160 with me. When you hear people talk about
00:05:18.000 CJC1295
00:05:20.000 or seroralin or tessamorin, these are
00:05:23.360 designed to boost natural growth
00:05:25.600 hormone. Boosting growth hormone,
00:05:27.680 especially combined with weight training
00:05:29.840 and good sleep, allows bodies to gain
00:05:32.639 more strength and muscle, burn more fat,
00:05:35.199 and get better sleep and skin quality.
00:05:37.919 What’s the difference between all of
00:05:39.280 these? Basically, CJC 1295 works longer
00:05:42.960 and is a really popular combination with
00:05:45.039 something called Ipamoralin, which I’ll
00:05:46.639 talk about. Suroralin is more short
00:05:48.960 acting and considered a gentler, more
00:05:51.440 physiologic peptide. Tessaoralin also is
00:05:54.479 longer acting, but has incredible fat
00:05:56.960 burning potential. It’s actually FDA
00:05:58.800 approved for something called HIV
00:06:00.400 lipodistrophe. Basically, if somebody
00:06:02.160 with HIV was taking a medication that
00:06:04.400 put fat around their organs, they use
00:06:06.240 tessamorin to burn that fat back off.
00:06:08.880 Ipamoralin, GHRP2, GHRP6,
00:06:13.039 hexelin. These all also boost up growth
00:06:15.600 hormone though through the ghrein
00:06:17.840 pathway. Ghrein is a hormone that makes
00:06:20.000 you hungry. Ipamorin is the most
00:06:22.319 commonly used by people who are
00:06:24.240 basically doing research on their own
00:06:25.680 bodies because it tends to not boost
00:06:28.000 hunger or cortisol as much as the others
00:06:30.319 do. Now physiologically downstream in
00:06:32.720 the hormone pathway of ghrein and growth
00:06:35.199 hormone is IGF-1. And if you want to
00:06:37.520 jump straight to boosting IGF-1 there’s
00:06:39.919 a peptide called IGF LR3 which is a long
00:06:42.880 acting form of IGF-1. And if you want to
00:06:44.960 know the research on just muscular
00:06:46.880 hypertrophy look into something called
00:06:48.479 folstatin. Falstatin basically takes the
00:06:51.120 breaks off of muscular growth. And if
00:06:53.280 you want to look into the fat loss
00:06:54.639 benefits of growth hormone you could
00:06:56.240 look into the research on AOD9604.
00:06:59.120 Okay that was a lot. Let’s take a pause.
00:07:01.440 Okay, good to go. All right, peptides
00:07:03.199 don’t just rebuild muscles. According to
00:07:05.120 the research, they can potentially
00:07:06.720 rebuild neurochemistry and brains.
00:07:08.880 Tesopenine, for example, is a
00:07:10.880 norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine
00:07:13.599 re-uptake inhibitor that’s been shown in
00:07:16.080 research to reduce appetite while
00:07:18.639 boosting mood and satisfaction. It’s
00:07:21.280 kind of like combining the metabolic
00:07:23.360 effects of the GLP-1, semoglutide,
00:07:25.440 tzepide, reatride with the mental energy
00:07:28.319 of a stimulant like fentamine except it
00:07:31.120 works through your brain’s reward
00:07:33.199 circuitry. There’s also CAX. Research
00:07:35.599 shows that Cax or SAX, I don’t know how
00:07:37.840 you say this one actually. Basically,
00:07:39.440 this is a fragment of act and research
00:07:42.080 shows that it works with BDNF or brain
00:07:44.639 derived neurotrophic factor neur
00:07:47.120 neurotrophic factor and dopamine and
00:07:49.919 serotonin systems contributing to
00:07:52.240 improved memory and focus and selen
00:07:54.879 there’s really great research showing
00:07:56.240 that selen can be used to lessen
00:07:58.479 anxiety. Dhexa is a neutropic peptide
00:08:01.280 that according to research in animals
00:08:03.360 helps form new neural connections. It’s
00:08:06.160 very popular for its ability to
00:08:08.000 potentially improve focus and clarity.
00:08:10.639 It’s also considered a highly promising
00:08:12.800 peptide for cognitive decline. There’s
00:08:15.440 cerebral lycin. This is a blend of
00:08:17.520 peptides that is being researched for
00:08:20.080 recovery from things like stroke and
00:08:22.160 dementia. It’s literally designed to
00:08:24.160 help neurons regrow and reconnect.
00:08:27.280 Imagine medicine helping repair your
00:08:29.680 body’s communication signaling pathways
00:08:32.080 versus just muting things. That’s where
00:08:34.320 we’re headed. All right, let’s talk
00:08:35.599 about skin, hair, and nails. Everybody
00:08:37.360 knows about collagen as a beauty
00:08:38.958 supplement, right? When you digest
00:08:40.880 collagen, you’re actually releasing
00:08:42.719 short peptides that tell your body to
00:08:45.040 make more collagen. It’s basically
00:08:46.880 primitive peptide therapy. GHK copper is
00:08:50.000 a peptide that works with the same idea,
00:08:52.800 just magnified and targeted. It’s a
00:08:55.279 copper binding tripeptide found
00:08:57.440 naturally in your plasma that safely
00:09:00.080 delivers copper to cells which tells
00:09:02.399 them to rebuild and even stimulate new
00:09:05.519 hair follicle growth. Then there’s snap
00:09:07.920 8. This is an octtopeptide that relaxes
00:09:10.959 facial muscle tension by blocking
00:09:13.600 neurotransmitter release. Think of it as
00:09:15.760 like the over-the-counter cousin to
00:09:17.680 Botox. It’s been shown to soften
00:09:19.839 expression lines over time. This is a
00:09:22.000 perfect example of how even cosmetic
00:09:24.240 peptides use the same signaling pathways
00:09:26.640 as therapeutic ones. And these aren’t
00:09:28.560 just cosmetics, they’re cellular
00:09:30.480 tune-ups. Lastly, let’s just talk about
00:09:32.480 some cellular longevity here. Epalen,
00:09:35.519 this is a peptide that supports
00:09:37.360 circadian rhythm and melatonin release,
00:09:40.160 helping you sleep like your younger self
00:09:42.240 used to. According to research, it can
00:09:44.240 actually lengthen tieumirs, basically an
00:09:46.720 anti-aging peptide. KPV as we age
00:09:49.839 basically damaged cells can pile up and
00:09:52.720 cause dysfunction in the body oxidative
00:09:55.120 stress and whatnot and basically the
00:09:56.959 immune system can start to misfire. KPV
00:09:59.680 which is a naturally occurring
00:10:00.959 tripeptide fragment of the hormone alpha
00:10:04.320 MSH helps suppress inflammation at the
00:10:07.680 cellular and gut level. It’s basically
00:10:09.760 being researched to help flip the body
00:10:11.920 back into repair and recovery mode
00:10:13.839 instead of defense mode. Thyosin alpha 1
00:10:16.800 basically strengthens immune
00:10:18.560 coordination. FOX04 DRRI basically helps
00:10:21.839 clear out old damaged cells that are
00:10:24.399 supposed to die off but they don’t. You
00:10:26.240 know that’s not just anti-aging, that’s
00:10:28.160 like cellular housekeeping. So yeah,
00:10:30.320 peptides are popular for helping you get
00:10:32.640 stronger, leaner, smarter, but at their
00:10:35.040 core they basically help your body
00:10:36.880 remember how to heal itself. And that’s
00:10:38.880 the future of medicine. I’m Dr. Ashley
00:10:41.200 Frzy. I run a direct primary care clinic
00:10:43.120 in Mesa, Arizona. It’s basically where I
00:10:45.200 don’t take insurance. My patients just
00:10:46.640 pay me directly. So, we have the freedom
00:10:48.480 to talk about things like this. I
00:10:50.240 appreciate you watching. If you like
00:10:51.600 this video, please hit like for me,
00:10:53.200 subscribe to my channel, and I’ll try to
00:10:54.800 keep making videos that are relevant to
00:10:56.560 you. I hope you have the best day.
